We added topsoil and hydroseed but also during this whole project we decided to add a fence also to keep the animals out and the dog in.
The land slopes down and back toward the greenbelt which makes for nice run off.  This is before we put in the deck so you can see in the lower right the side wall.
Off the deck looking up the side of the house and where the door is going to the fence so you can get in the back yard.  The neighbors did their lawn as the same time we did so it came out real nice.
This is what it looked like when we bought the property.  This is early winter the year before we moved in.  Notice the deck is short and there are a lot of trees in the background.  I tried to put read dots on the trees that stayed.
Here is the expanded deck.  It used to be 5 feet from the house with no steps by 16 feet.  You can kind of see it where the color of the decking changes at the foot of the chair.
I put an additional 8 feet off of it and stairs to go into the back yard.  Now it is 13 x 16 feet with some pretty heafty supports under it for supporting our hot tub.
Just another view to show some of the supports and the living room window that looks out to the deck and the back mountain.
Looking down at our nice green grass that was put in by hydroseed and looking at the steps that now enable us to get to the back yard.
Here is our new toy and worth every bit of the money that was spent.  It is better the colder it gets and doesn't really affect the bills any.
Project List:

Our first project in which we created more of a back yard after the builders were gone.  We cut down a bunch of trees and brought in some topsoil and made it wide open in the back.
The next project that went along with the back yard.  This was more work by me as the contractor did the back yard.  It was very hard putting the holes in the ground as me and Chip dug them all by hand.
The third project and quite the challenge as I had only built the pool deck and not a deck that would support some weight.  It was a very well thought out plan that worked very well.
Not really a project but just adding to the house, a nice big fat tub to look up at the mountain and enjoy the view.

This is now the biggest project that is a culmination of contractor work and my touches.  It will be done in phases and you get to see the work as it is being completed.
